This Privacy Policy explains how we use the personal information that Schroders (as defined below) collects or generates in relation to its Marketing Preference Centre web page (the “Preference Centre”).
“Schroders”, “we” or “us” means Schroders plc with its registered office at 1 London Wall Place, London EC2Y 5AU or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, details of which can be found on the Schroders website. Together these are referred to as the Schroders Group.
We collect and use certain personal data via the Preference Centre and we are responsible for ensuring that we use that personal data in compliance with data protection laws. This Privacy Policy governs the handling of personal data by Schroders in the course of operating the Preference Centre.

2. THE TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

When you visit the Preference Centre, we may collect and process the following personal data about you:

Information that we collect or generate about you. When you submit information via the Preference Centre, we may use this information to help build a better picture of the topics and materials that interest you or may interest you, and the ways in which you would like to receive them.
Cookies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. The Preference Centre uses “strictly necessary” cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of the Preference Centre. You can choose not to accept certain cookies by turning this feature off within your browser settings, however doing this may detract from your user experience and your ability to properly use the Preference Centre.

Where we transfer your personal data to a country outside the UK or EEA, we will ensure that it is protected and transferred in a manner consistent with legal requirements. In relation to data being transferred outside of the UK or EEA, for example, this may be done in one of the following ways:

  • the country that we send the data to might be approved by the European Commission as offering an adequate level of protection for personal data;
  • the recipient might have signed up to a contract based on “model contractual clauses” approved by the European Commission, obliging them to protect your personal data; or
